Lauren Carley performs her theatrical cabaret, Venus Envy, in honor of gay pride , queer arts and those of us who like live entertainment mixed with our sex and politics Venus Envy brings a chiaroscuro of funny, haunted, star-crossed and playfully invented women to the stage. The political, ironic, and comic songs in Venus Envy originate from the 1920/30s Weimar era, and from the 1930/40s Paris and New York. Carley inhabits an array of characters who fluidly negotiate place, character, gender, sexual preference and stereotype.

Written and performed by Lauren Carley. Directed by Frank Coppola.
Daniel Lockert on piano, Nik Phelps on woodwinds, plus special guests.
