NATIONAL QUEER ARTS FESTIVAL 2020

Theme Transformation

Maya Angelou wrote, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
What does it mean to transform? How do our Queer lives evolve and open the way to the transformation our experiences conjure? Why is transformation necessary and how do we as a Queer community embrace the transition?

What unexpected growth do our hearts open to when we surrender to a vision of change, love, affirmation and forgiveness?

We request art that offers visibility to transformational queer stories of courage, inspiration, love, perseverance, hope, disappointment, creativity, expansion, difference and success.

APPLICATIONS DUE OCTOBER 25, 2019

Queer Cultural Center (QCC) provides approximately 20 grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 to support innovative projects in any artistic medium that builds LGBTQ+ community through the arts. Most of this funding supports projects taking place during the 2020 National Queer Arts Festival (NQAF), which is slated to run May to July of 2020.

Artists who have previously received funding or completed a project through NQAF are eligible to propose a program whose timeline falls outside of the NQAF.
