RAW presents Chelsea Van Billiard, Emergence Dance Company, and Nitya Narasimhan
June 1st, 2018 – June 2nd, 2018

Nitya will present “Maathe”, a solo work in progress which uses the Bharatanatyam vocabulary to explore the emotions associated with the word “mother”. In its current form, its a juxtaposition of the Universal Mother – Devi, and the Forgotten Mother – Devaki. Accompanied by live musicians.

“Moving Forward” is a work created and performed by Cindy Heen and her dancers Lauren Lightfoot, Brynn Ogilvie, and Andrea Salazar. Emergence Dance Company envisions how movement can be a positive force throughout the peaks and valleys of the life cycle. We take a humanistic approach to movement and the artistic process through our commitment to technique, experiential awareness, and ritual practice.

Chelsea Van Billiard presents “The Wave”. A piece exploring adaptation to shifts in energy. How are we manipulated by influences around us versus molding the space ourselves?

RAW presents Adric Alvaro
Sunday June 3rd at 8pm at 145 Eddy St (SAFEHouse’s new venue!)

“M4M LWG (Living With Ghoul)” explores how music connects us to our memories. Despite a relationship’s end, memories will live on for years afterwards. The effects of those memories can shape and define who we are and how we live. What happens when those memories are triggered by a song on the radio or the innocuous restaurant music playing in the background of a first date?

RAW presents: Cellula and Steven Horner
Friday and Saturday June 29th & 30th at 8pm at 145 Eddy St (SAFEHouse’s new venue!)

With HOMeOstatis Tamalpa Institute trained movement improviser Steven Horner explores his state of personal physiological, emotional and mental equilibriums and the internal and external forces that influence them. Steven operates at that unusual place somewhere between the intention of dance and the energy of sport, investigating the energy produced by the male body.

Cellula is a movement based collective led by three female artists who have been practicing performance scores in accordance with Anna Halprin’s teachings and guidance. Our current piece is a patchwork woven together by female narratives exploring bodies, memories, emotions and taboos in relation to ordinary daily happenings and the stages of development into womanhood.
