Join us for Muse-ic #3 – A Love Affair Between Art & Sound. This time we celebrate influential queer women and women of color of the bay area’s past, present, and future.

There will be an artists vendor market featuring Bushmama Africa and T. Christal Designs. They will be selling handmade jewelry, art, and accessories.

Lani Grooves, will be blessing us with a live acoustic performance featuring her original music and a few cover songs.

DJ Nina Sol, DJ Slum B, and The Plush One are your DJs for the day. They all have curated a very special strictly vinyl soundtrack featuring music from only women of color.

BIOGRAPHIES

Artist & The DJ (featured artist): A Los Angeles native, residing in Oakland as a professional commissioned artist and DJ . Her art focuses on the medium of Pyrography (wood burning). Her art is influenced by personal experiences, family, cinema, music, and features black culture in a positive light. Artist & The DJ has also been a strictly vinyl DJ, known as The Plush One, for 17 years and is usually spinning records at her curated events in Oakland and Los Angeles that always feature local artists, DJs, LGBTQIA and POC. Over the last 4 years, she’s had solo art exhibitions at SomaR Bar, Au Lounge, Napoleon’s Home of the Cream Team Barbers, and Downtown L.A. Art Walk and has been a featured vendor at Queer Fashion Week, Vida SF, many SocialLife Productions events, and Chocolate and Art SF/Los Angeles. Bushmama Africa (vendor market): Bushmama Africa is a sought after artist in the bay area. She has been a featured vendor/artist at The Black Woman Is God, E14 Gallery Oakland, Malcolm X Jazz Festival, Juneteenth Festival SF, Umoja Festival, Pan African Festival, and will be at Life Is Living. Currently you can find her as a regular guest on “The Ibeji Lounge” on KPOO Radio 89.5 FM Tuesdays 8pm-10pm and gives professional priestess knowledge and breaks down astrology, new moons, and how to be healthy and protect our energy. http://www.bushmama.com/

Christal’s Creations (vendor market): Toshia Christal is an Oakland native and a new age renaissance woman that provides a large scale of services to her clients. She is a one stop shop that addresses all aesthetic realms including hair, skin, nails, art, and jewelry design. Toshia owns her own business located in Oakland on Fruitvale called “T. Christal’s Creative Space”. She is a licensed cosmetologist providing all nail and skin services, and sells handmade jewelry, trinkets, shoes, and clothes in her store. Lani Grooves (live acoustic performer): Iwalani Venerable aka LaniGrooves is a musician, performing artist, film maker, early childhood specialist, and educator. She loves inspiring others with the power of music, and produces, composes and writes her own original songs. Nina Sol (DJ): Nina Sol is a vinyl enthusiast that traverses time and texture. Her insatiable curiosity for music discovery keeps her sets fresh and unexpected. Currently based in Oakland, Nina holds monthly residencies at Constellations, a party dedicated to past and present artists born under the zodiac sign of the month, and Elements throwing down underground dance music alongside soulful house DJ veteran, Patrick Wilson. She has opened for artists including Rich Medina, Solange, Pete Rock, Jose James, Vikter Duplaix, and many others. Slum B (DJ): DJ Slum B. (short for Slum Beautiful) is both a DJ and a Freelance Graphic Designer associated with the best producers in the Bay Area such as Soulovely, Queer Fashion Week, and Still Queer. Her passion for translating visuals with dance culture elevates her sensibility in connecting with people through music. Her musical influence is deeply rooted from Chicago’s producers that played classic disco, house music & Footwork. Her eclectic arrangement is the blueprint for creating a unique experience and sets a mood for those who enjoy a lounge experience or seek a hard thump dance cadence. Her current musical interests are Electronic Hip Hop, Nu-Soul & Break Beat.
