Tears of Rock is an expression of concern for the devastating violence, fear, and hatred that divides the Middle East. Tears of Rock is a search for a unified sense of heart and spirit amidst the tragedy of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. Live music will be performed by a Middle Eastern music ensemble headed by Susanna Goldenstein and Vocolot, a Bay Area group that specializes in Jewish/Israeli songs. Tears of Rock also features arrangements by Mideast percussion master Susu Pompanin and an original score by Marc Ream. Traditional Palestinian folk dance is by Palestinian choreographer and musician Elias Khoury. Israeli choreographer and singer Miri Hunter Haruach contributed Israeli choreography for the ensemble.

ABD Productions is the producing arm of Anne Bluethenthal and Dancers, a San Francisco-based modern dance company that focuses on the creation of dance that is women-identified, spiritual, passionate, and inclusive of all its member voices. ABD was founded in 1984. ABD’s repertoire consists of more than 50 original works, including three major, evening length multi-disciplinary pieces. The company has presented more than 100 public performances throughout the Bay Area, and in New York, North Carolina, Philadelphia, and Ohio; and co-founded the SF Lesbian and Gay Dance Festival.
