Yerba Buena Center for the Arts takes an intimate look at San Francisco’s legendary gender-bending drag theater troupe, The Cockettes through a selection of original show posters and documentary photos. The exhibition offers insight into the troupe’s extravagant lifestyle and aesthetic while capturing the magical energy of San Francisco during that unique period in time.

Originally conceived in 1976 and executed in 2000 (a year of the dragon in the Asian zodiac), this monumental scroll celebrates dragons as embodiments of power and influence of nature. Hardy’s 500-foot-long masterpiece represented the United States at the Cuenca Bienal in Ecuador last year

Dyke Action Machine! (DAM!) is the activist art collaboration of photographer Sue Schaffner and painter Carrie Moyer. DAM! is the only specifically lesbian public art project in existence.
