“The hardest working drag troupe in the business” is back with Rally the Troupes. Last year’s sold-out sensation is returning with two amazing shows! The Transformers (SF Drag King Contest winners and voted Best of the Bay 3 years running) rounded up an eclectic mix of drag kings, queens, and burlesque artists from the Bay Area and beyond. These performers have a knack for nailing each song with innovative moves and messages. At times thought-provoking, at times erotic, at times hilarious, and most times a mixture of the three, this evening will leave you inspired and craving more!
Featuring original performances by: The Transformers; Burlesque-Esque with Kentucky Fried Woman; The Citizen Kings; all the way from Washington, D.C. Thataway; The Dangers, and more! Plus your fabulous MC: Micia Mosely.
Biographies
Transformers
The Transformers, Ashton Kutchie (formerly Jay Blue), Tin Hardware, Drew Montana, and Billy the Kid want to introduce you to generation two: four more boys who are dedicated to bringing glitter, pop music and pyrotechnics to the masses. Malcolm Pecs, Ben Dahmen, Dang Kinki, and Corky St. Flair join the Transformers in their continued fight to end war with synchronized dancing, sequins, and good old-fashioned male-bonding. These guys have wowed you at the San Francisco Drag King Contest and have been voted Best of the Bay, 2 years running. You won’t be disappointed when you come out to see these boys.

Citizen Kings
They wowed you with political bondage at SFDK2K5, and thrilled you with a schoolboy circle-jerk in Guerneville. The Citizen Kings are some of the boldest new performers to captivate Bay Area audiences with their sexy, political drag. Their provocative performances–which address sexuality, drag-culture, and popular politics–are not for the faint of heart or fixed of gender.
Burlesque-Esque
Burlesque-Esque wants to be YOUR Tartine morning bun. They like slapdashery, meaningful messages, medium-high kicks and costumes held together by a single safety pin. They’ve been performing (on stage and off) for 107 years now and can STILL manage to combine sexy dance moves with bringing down the Republican Right. They have an agenda and aren’t afraid to show it . . . just make sure you don’t try to feed them any low-carb snacks.
Kentucky Fried Woman
Kentucky Fried Woman (KFW) was a member of the Disposable Boy Toys before moving to Seattle and founding the Queen Bees, a queer cabaret troupe, in 2002. She has recently moved to Oakland and is thrilled to be performing in the Bay Area. When she is not performing, KFW is also known for her workshops on the intersections of bodies and identities. A recovering graduate student, KFW’s alter-ego, Krista Smith is a development associate for a non-profit devoted to survivors of sexual assault and family violence. She is also a member of the IDKE steering committee and is the Co-Chair of the Femme 2006 Performance Committee.
The Dangers
Jake and Damien Danger are former members of the Disposable Boy Toys, a Santa Barbara-based drag troupe founded in 2000. Since moving to Oakland a few years ago and leaving DBT behind, the Dangers have been bringing political, humorous, and sexy drag to queers across the nation.
Micia Mosely
Voted one of the “funniest people ever” by her mother, Micia Mosely has been entertaining audiences her whole life. Brooklyn raised, she has spent the last 10 years performing in the Bay Area. Though Micia’s roots are in improvisational comedy, she has shared many different talents over the years including: stand-up comedy, hosting events during East Bay Pride and Liquid Fire’s productions of WET. Micia is also the creator of “Sistahfriends: A Black Lesbian Puppet Experience” and Co-founder of Nappy Grooves an all Black drag king troupe. She has co-emceed the San Francisco Pride Dyke March, the world homo-hop festival and Sistahs Steppin In Pride. She has hosted stages at Oakland’s Art and Soul festival and shows during the National Queer Arts Festival for several years. Currently she is working on her one woman show “Where my girls at? Searching for Sistahood in the Bay”
Thatway/Thisway
From highly personal pieces exploring racial identity to gay boi dance fests, drag king Thatway is known for vibrant and versatile performances. Thisway, his female persona, is a burlesque grrl/bio-queen who wears her politics on her sleeves and her skirts way up high. Sporting off-the-wall costumes, she serenades the crowd with her rockin’ vox.
