Ricardo Regules

This work is about a personal war, a war against social restrictions imposed on myself ever since I can remember. It is about identity, both cultural and sexual. It is about being rejected, alienated and judged by mainstream society, friends and even family members. It is about questioning, defying, and confronting social constructions on sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, lifestyle and so on.  This series of self-portraits relies upon my very own experiences as a queer Mexican immigrant living in Canada in order to create something meaningful that truly reflects upon an internal struggle against the fear of not being accepted as we really are.
