It’s big, it’s back, and it’s still FREE! Qcc presents highlights from the 2006 National Queer Arts Festival mixed freely with Free Food and Free Drink! Once again we thank the LGBT Community Center for co-hosting the QBall. Did we mention it’s Free? Ok, sure, we’re going to ask for money once you’re there, but at least we warn you in advance!

Two great visual arts exhibits open at the QBall:

Diwali: a collection of photos that reflect the weekly gatherings and Diwali holiday celebration of a group of MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) in India. This opens at the 3Dollar Bill Café.

The QBall – 10th Birthday Party for the National Queer Arts Festival

June 2, 6 – Midnight
Performances
Rainbow Room | LGBT Center
FREE – But expect to be asked!
Come celebrate the 10th Birthday of the NQAF with The Queer Cultural Center, The LGBT Community Center and several of our closest friends!  There will be free libations flowing and free food for munching all night long. This year, the QBall opens on all floors with the exhibition “San Francisco…according to Rink.”  Curators Greg Day and Jordy Jones capture the stories behind the photographs of the queer community’s most prolific photographer.  If it’s happened, Rink’s been there—and now you can go there as well!

At 7pm—we move to the Rainbow Room for our annual night of performance nuggets from artists past, present and future!  Short 3-5 minute pieces move along at a break-neck pace giving you just a taste of what’s to come in the next four weeks.  And I mean all four weeks! We are jam-packed with every type of art you can imagine!

At the end of the performances, we push back our chairs, bring out the birthday cake and proceed to wow you with music: kick-ass, kinky, funky and fabulous!  Nedra Johnson returns to SF with the release of her newest CD – Nedra. Nedra’s self-titled sophomore release is a 2006 OUTMUSIC Award winning, joyful mix of R&B, funk, rock and gospel. But we’re not stopping there—keep an eye on the website for the latest musicians signing on to rock you ‘til late!
