SHOW DESCRIPTION

Cori Pillows creates as an expression of spiritual evolution, healing, and self-love. Her work showcases her desire to expand social perception of the human spirit and its connection to nature, our ancestors and each other. She presents these works to inspire the audience to create alongside her as a form of restoration, and to come to view themselves as living works of art.

This journey, an adventura para el alma is a tribute to the 12-year-old me, a throwback to wonder and anticipation of the unknown.
An unveiling of my truth.
An expression of movement, color, words, and sorcery
A falling forward and embracing change in mind body and soul
A releasing
An accepting
An unraveling and rebuilding

You are invited to join Cori on this journey as she documents her inspirations and creative process through a variety of mediums including movement, paint, sculpture, poetry and the healing arts. All are welcome.

ARTIST

Cori Pillows is a multi-disciplined artist based in Oakland, California. Her art strives to document political and social justice history as well as imagery reflecting her journey of healing, connection and self-love. She works in a variety of mediums including photography, paint, clay, wood, charcoal and digital. Cori discovered the ability to heal herself through the means of creating art using ritual meditation, combining elements of nature and the many physical and spiritual forms of “the goddess” as her muse for inspiration. For Cori, creating art has been an effective tool for embodying the very necessary skill of self-care and spiritual evolution. Her mission is to share this journey and ultimately communicate through her art the power of healing and its connection to the inner self and the nature that surrounds us.

Cori creates, manages, curates and markets her work through Core Creations LLC. A visual art based company which offers graphic services and generates high-end reproductions of her original art; depicting historical black portraits, revolutionary ARTivism, and conceptual illustrations of the spirit and beauty reflected in her community.

Cori’s clients have included Ledisi, Gladys Knight, Gina Breedlove, Oakland Mayor, Genentech, East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club, Sistahs Steppin’ and countless community design projects.
