Hosted by Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center and New Leaf Outreach to Elders

The Intergeneration Performance Series II will give gifts to the audience from a treasure chest of “Stories Spirals” told by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Hidden behind the façade and stereotypes of age, we will share this feast of true stories in honor of those in attendance. We will reveal through song and dance and storytelling our personal experiences with aging and ageism, as lived within the queer community. Themes of intergeneration mentoring, the passing on of queer culture from one generation to the next, and the challenges that face both young and old alike will be woven into a performance that will use multimedia and live performances as the basis for the feast.

II. AN EXHIBITION OF INTERGENERATION TREASURES
June 1 to June 30, 2002
James C. Hormel Lesbian and Gay Center
San Francisco Main Public Library, 100 Larkin Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco
Sponsored by the James C. Hormel Lesbian and Gay Center

Intergeneration will present an interdisciplinary exhibition of project documents, artifacts, photographs, artwork and literary works created by various intergeneration artists. The exhibit hopes to educate visitors to the conceptualization, development and actualization of the Intergeneration project. The exhibit will also showcase some of the creative art resulting from Intergeneration queer community building and personal stories that reflect some of the negative impact ageism has on the quality of queer lives. A treasure chest containing ‘Story Spirals’, created by queer community members, will also be on display.

Founded by Frank Pietronigro, Intergeneration is an interdisciplinary arts project that is building community between LGBTQ individuals of all ages. Sponsored in part by a grant for the San Francisco Cultural Equity Grants Program. For more information call 415-695-9010 or visit: www.intergeneration.org.
