Three-site exhibit plus public program sponsored and curated by the Gay & Lesbian Historical Society of Northern California.
This series of exhibits showcases elements from specific historic moments from the collection, such as the founding of the Daughters of Bilitis, one of the oldest lesbian political organizations in the US, and their national conference in San Francisco. Under an innovative contract of agreement, this major historical lesbian/feminist collection will be partially housed at the SFPL, creating greater accessibility for scholars and the general public. This exhibit is curated by undergraduate and graduate interns from the Gender Studies Internship with U.C. Davis’ Women’s Studies Program. Lesbian Crusaders is part of our Preserving Our Queer Culture Series. Sponsored in part by a grant from Horizons Foundation/PG&E Lesbian & Gay Youth Education Fund.
