BIOGRAPHIES

Micia Mosely, a comedian and educator who earned her Ph.D. in education from U.C. Berkeley, keeps audiences learning & laughing in a variety of contexts and venues. Mosely’s one-woman show, “Where My Girls At?” (an off-Broadway comedy about Black lesbians) was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award (Best Solo Performance). Currently, she performs her brand of social justice stand up comedy across the country.

She began her career teaching high school social studies in San Francisco and went on to work as a coach with The National Equity Project and a National Training Specialist with The Posse Foundation. Mosely’s research and practice focuses on equity, race, and urban education. She is also known for her one-woman show “Where My Girls At?” a comedy about Black Lesbians. She stays connected to teaching as lecturer at UMass Boston and an Induction Mentor for the residency program a Teachers College, Columbia University. Mosely spends the majority of her time as the founding Executive Director of The Black Teacher Project, an organization committed to recruiting, developing and sustaining Black teachers for schools in the United States.

Marga Gomez is known for her work in solo performance and stand up comedy and for being one of the first openly lesbian performers in the nation. She has appeared on LOGO’s “One Night Stand Up,” Showtime’s “Latino Laugh Festival,” Comedy Central’s “Out There” and HBO’s “Comic Relief” at the invitation of Robin Williams who called her “Amazing… a lesbian Lenny Bruce.” She has been a guest on leading comedy podcasts Marc Maron’s “WTF,” “The Keith and The Girl Show” and Kevin Allison’s “Risk.”  Her comic style has been described as “deliciously cheeky and incendiary” by the New York Times and “salaciously surreal” by the San Francisco Chronicle. She is a regular at SF Comedy Day and has been featured at numerous comedy festivals including SF Sketchfest, Montreal’s Just For Laughs, South Beach Comedy Festival, Vancouver Comedy Festival and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The SF Weekly named Gomez one of “2016’s Artists To Watch.” Huffpost named her an “Agent of Change” in 2015. She is also a GLAAD Award winner, a Theater LA “Ovation Award” winner and triple winner of the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s “Best of The Bay Comedian Award.” Marga is also the writer/performer of eleven solo plays which have been presented Off-Broadway and internationally. She was a founding member of the Latino ensemble Culture Clash. Her acting credits include Off-Broadway and national productions of The Vagina Monologues sharing the stage with Rita Moreno and Vicki Lawrence and roles in HBO’s “Tracey Takes On…” and Warner Brothers film’s “Batman Forever” and “Sphere.” Gomez can be seen December 2016 in season two of the Netflix series “Sense 8”

Sólás B. Lalgee is a Richmond native and arts advocate, was nurtured by an art-based family. He attended the School of the Arts- San Francisco, Oakland Youth Chorus, and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He was a Presidential Scholar of the Arts awardee in 1997 and recipient of several awards by the Society of Singers, The GRAMMY Foundation, and Young Arts Program. Lalgee’s credits include studying, working, and performing with Ledisi, Zendaya Coleman, Latoya London, Mooncandy live house music ensemble, Jennifer Johns, Valerie Troutt, Nicole Klaymoon, and The Embodiment Project. As a Vocal Instructor, Lalgee has enjoyed working with singers of all age to help find their true voice.
