Theatre Rhinoceros presents For Colored Boys . . .who have considered s-curls when the hot comb was enuf . . . by Marvin K. White, adapted and directed by Johari Jabir.
A choreopoem for five African American gay men based on Marvin K. White’s exuberant poetry. It addresses the schizophrenia that African American gay people live with, being black in the gay community and being gay in the black community-each with its curses and it’s blessings. For Colored Boys (with homage to Ntozake Shange) deals with sexuality, loss, camp, family, and church through a series of White’s staged poems with vibrant singing and flamboyant theatricality.
