Artist Statement
When spoken aloud “two men, last scene” can also become “two men, last seen.” This simple phrase acts as inspiration for this video. It begins to describe a scene in a film, as well as, simultaneously, the disappearance of bodies. A disappearance through murder, AIDS, war. It becomes about bodies missing, bodies fragmented, bodies lost, but also bodies formed and reformed. A transformative power is also at play: bodies willingly merging with one another. Two voices come in and out, weaving between differing narratives. A trans* voice recalls lost bodies, still missing, our trans* families still torn asunder. The present (and future) is accessed through our past and our collective stories, through these bodies lost and formed.
