In an effort to bring more visibility to Bay Area Queer Artists, Creative Labor and the Queer Cultural Center are joining forces with some of the Bay Area’s most important Queer Art venues to bring San Francisco & Oakland their second annual Queer Open Studios.
Queer Open Studios organizer Rudy Lemcke says about the event. “There are many queer artists who just want to be artists first and don’t consider their queerness as something they want to foreground, and this is fine, but there are many artists and art spaces who feature the work of queer artists in SF and the East Bay who want to celebrate how queerness shapes their world view and how this queerness informs their art practice. This is what Queer Open Studios is all about. A chance to see the studio practice of queer artists – how we work and how our artwork is an integral part of our daily lives. Queer Open Studios is a free event for artists and their patrons and fans. Join us for this insider look at Queer Art.”
