SHOW DESCRIPTION
There is a lie in our culture that country music is only for the racist right wing. This show features a diverse collective of queer country musicians who prove that Americana and roots music belong to all of us. Showcasing Lavender Country, the first out gay country band (1973), Amythyst Kiah, the award-winning singer songwriter from the all-women-of-color supergroup Our Native Daughters, out transwoman folk-punker Shawna Virago, Haitian-born / UK based Alt-Americana Country-Noire singer DeLila Black, and the First Lady of Queer Country herself, Secret Emchy Society, for a night of inclusive and intersectional damn good country music.

Curator Cindy Emch has been creating queer spaces for musical / literary performance in the Bay Area for over 15 years. Tonight she presents five internationally renowned queer country musicians for a powerful evening of progressive and intersectional americana / roots music.
