Pamela Peniston, Artistic Director

Pamela Peniston is a Founding Member and Artistic Director of the Queer Cultural Center. She was an initial member of Mayor Art Agnos’ Cultural Affairs Task Force of San Francisco in 1989, which helped to establish the guidelines for the Cultural Equity Grants Program at the SF Arts Commission.

Unexpected Developments

Curator, Tirza True Latimer, features in this exhibition works by artists who use photography against the documentary grain. Their practices – which include art, performance, visual narrative, painting, sculpture, collage, inlay, montage, and video – rely on photographic technology in some phase of the creative process.

The Fire Thieves Poetry Series

An inter-generational and inter-sectional collaboration between established, mid-career and new poets working, producing, and presenting new work. The evening’s readers include Jewelle Gomez, playwright, novelist and social justice activist; Stephen Meadows, Ohlone poet and KFOF folk music dj; Linda Noel, Poet Laureate Emerita of Ukiah; Ramona Webb, artist in word, movement, and culture change.
