This Is What I Want 2012 goes beyond the talk back, and introduces critical discourse panels and a hands-on audience experiential.  Presented in collaboration with Center for Sex and Culture’s Carol Queen and Robert Lawrence and under rigorous curatorial direction by Los Angeles-based London scholar and practicing performance maker Dorian George, TIWIW offers 2 facilitated discussions under the title of Slow Sex – Queer exit-strategies from capitalist economies of attraction and performance. Facilitated by sexologist Carol Queen, a discussion on the Practice of Radical Pleasure will take place amongst sexual activist Joseph Kramer, psychotherapist & author Dossie Easton and performance artist, ecdysiast, and community organizer Xandra Ibarra.

A selected panel of performers from the festival will participate in a conversation entitled Practicing Radical Desire.  Participants will discuss how their critique of dominant models of desire connects to their identity, lifestyle or artistic perspective, and in what ways the festival theme provided them with a context to create work and or focus a particular lens to an existing work.

And as a final offering of the TIWIW festival, we present This Is What YOU Want – A participatory exploration concept by the festival’s Artistic Director Tessa Wills, carried through by SF artist and sexuality activist TT Baum. This is What YOU Want, will offer symposium attendants the opportunity to explore and express their own desires using the language and ideas that were staged during the festival and have been further developed over the course of the day. Working with highly skilled facilitators, the audience for the participatory performance will have the opportunity to design and taste their own unique interface of alternative sexual practice and performance.

This is What I Want 2012 is produced by THEOFFCENTER under the artistic direction of London-born, SF-based performance maker Tessa Wills, with Production assistance by Racheal Ditcher and executive production support by Ernesto Sopprani (THEOFFCENTER).

This is What I want is presented as an offering of the National Queers Arts Festival in Collaboration with SOMArts Cultural Center, Center for Sex and Culture, Queer Cultural Center and THEOFFCENTER.
