Dear Mammaries is a group exhibition featuring interactive sculptural and installation based works that address the artists’ unique current or past relationships with their breasts.  In this unique body of work a diverse range of artists use text and visual mediums allowing the viewer into this intimate relationship through visual dialogue with our bodies addressing body image, gender identity, breasts as utilitarian objects of desire or nourishment and breasts under attack while combating cancer.

In conjunction with Dear Mammaries, Femina Potens presents the Reclaiming Our Bodies Workshop with artist and community organizer, Madison Young. Through a series of creative art practices including self-portraiture, meditative practice, collage and artistic expression, Madison will guide this intimate workshop as we explore and cultivate love for our bodies and for ourselves.

Special mimosa brunch with artists and facilitated panel discussion on body image & the female body as represented in the media and art world on Sunday June 9th from 2 – 4pm .

Young’s breadth of work in the realm of sexuality spans from documenting our sexual culture in her feminist erotic films to serving as the Artistic Director of the forward thinking non-profit arts organization, Femina Potens Art Gallery. Young values sexual education in her work and has taught workshops, lectures, and acted as a panelist on the topics of sexuality, feminism and pornography, and kink around the world including at Yale University, Hampshire College, University of Minnesota, and UC Berkeley. s_goodwinEartha L. Goodwin is of the few people in the world who can manifest their imagination as the life they’re living and the art they create. A native of Ohio, She has over 20 years of dedicated passion to her love of photography.

She developed her expertise as the creative processes sales representative in Atlanta, Georgia at a major photo dealer. From there, she built a darkroom in the upstairs of her apartment and became a custom printer. Her prints have the unique greatness that can only be described as beautiful when you see. Art imitates life, and life, art.  Her photography has been published and shown nationally. Eartha’s supreme achievement, whether it be as a creative director, photographer or as a mother, as a friend has been to brighten the lens of her courage on everyone that she meets. Courage to love, courage to create; Eartha L. Goodwin does both. She is one the rarest of women who manages to encompass both the unstoppable drive and unforgivable talent of a photo prodigy, without giving up the essential goodness that it takes to be real mother.
